October ended and November began with super producer/photographer/singer-songwriter/ water-well diggin’ Matt Wignall bringing in the Swedish import Mando Diao. What began as a photo assignment overseas turned into Wignall co-producing their next release. The most fun might have been Halloween shopping with the fellas or perhaps it was the back porch, vodka drinking Spanish folk song recording. Look for the video footage soon!
The rest of November was full with the finishing touches on Lost Highway Records recording artist Ryan Bingham and Dead Horses New album to be released this spring. If you been paying attention at all you know that our good pal Marc Ford had a big ol’ hand in helping Ryan along for about four years and four releases by now, all recorded here at the Compound. Co-produced by Marc and Anthony "Antoine" Arvizu.
Speaking of Marc and Antoine, the Neptune Blues Club started our December off right with a live performance/house party right here at the Compound. (Thank you dancers!) This private affair was also filmed by Matt Wignall and will be posted soon on our up-coming video page. Until then, enjoy some photos from Coy!
December holidays slowed things a bit although we did manage to get a bad ass live recording of Ikey Owen’s Free Moral Agents at the 5 year anniversary of Long Beach’s own, and most intriguing bookstore (open). Our good friends Greater California performed as well (complete with holiday singers) and we grabbed a quick three mic recording that features band leader Terry Prine’s son Miles singing heroically into the mic and showing us all that good times are made not had. Can’t wait to have the release of last years Compound recording (Ikey Owens production) in our hot hands.
Happy New Year and get your band on down to the Pound!
