Alright folks, we have one more for you before we close the books on SAM 2010, and it’s a doozy. This Saturday night, we are taking over the East Village for the second annual BuskerFest – an event that celebrates the time honored tradition of busking by bringing 15 of the best bands in and around Long Beach off the stage and onto the streets to compete for the grand prize of a week of recording at the world renowned Compound Recording Studios in Long Beach. The event is interactive – everyone in the audience gets the opportunity to vote for their favorite bands by tossing SAM nickels into the guitar cases of their favorite acts. Buskers will compete from 5 to 7:15 PM, and then the main stage will light up with Jay Buchanan (7:30 PM), Crystal Antlers (8:00 PM) and Delta Spirit (9:00 PM), all under the masterful orchestration of emcee and WriteBloody poet Derrick Brown.
And, because we believe in stacking the deck – in addition to the terrific food, drink and entertainment options you would expect to find at BuskerFest, we have a stage-side beer garden, FREE bike valet, the Ice Cream Man, and a handful of magicians, contortionists and other street performers who are sure to blow your mind.
